A little history. This building, located on North Pekin's Twin Lakes, formerly housed "The Chateau on the Lake" restaurant. The Chateau, in it's heyday, was upscale eatery in every sense of the word. A succession of eateries have located there since The Chateau closed and the building, food and service steadily declined. Sonny Asani acquired the grounds and obviously spent a ton of money restoring the facility. It opened as Sazani"s Steak & Pasta House in August 2014. Décor and ambiance is well above average and brought back fond memories from days gone by. Tonight, Feb 14th, we and 3 other couples made our first visit. Ordering was from the Valentines Day menu. Our waiter was pleasant, efficient and helpful. Even though this was going to be a busy night for them, he stressed that there was no hurry and could linger as long as we wanted. He took orders and refilled drinks without making us feel rushed. Complementary breadsticks (brought at the same time as the drinks) were, in my opinion, dry. There was no spread available at the table and we had to request butter. Salads were plain (lettuce, a cucumber slice and a tomato wedge) with dressing on the side No croutons, cheese, onion crackers. or other extras. For the entrée my wife had the 12-14 oz. Black and Blue New York ($22.99) and I had the 8 oz. New York with 3 stuffed shrimp ($19.99). We each had a baked potato with butter. Her meat was gristly and neither hers or mine was terribly tasty. The uniform grey color indicated (to me at least) that a grill had not been used in cooking. Just a personal note, but I did not feel that the value of the meal equaled the cost ($51.00 before tip). While no one at the table complained officially, none of them gave their meals high marks either. In fact, the one person who had ordered the lobster tail and fillet mingon combination ($28.99) noted that the 6 oz.fillet seemed laughably small and appeared to be dwarfed by the 6 oz.lobster tail. Three people ordered different types of cake for dessert and all three voiced the same opinion. Every slice of cake was dry. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the table was covered in red colored PAPER! Really? PAPER? One of my fellow diners was wondering where the crayons were. Unfortunately, I remember things the way they were and this didn't measure up. I guess I won't be going back any time soon. Dang! I had high hopes.

Can I give this dump ZERO stars? New Years Eve dinner and they didn't have the balls to tell us when reservations were made that all they were serving was their buffet. And it was terrible!!! Cold food had no flavor, raw prime rib, just a real joke. The waiter could barely understand and speak english. I will continue to tell everyone I know how terrible this place is. Frankly, I wouldn't feed this shit to my dog.

Poor service poor management. Never have a party here!!! We had some cancellations and decreased our reservations because of sickness. I then received a rude phone call the next day to tell me they had asked the people who were able to make it for more than they were told they would need to pay. I was told if we had ordered off the menu this wouldn't be a problem. It was buffet style only because we were given no other choice. Between the poor service and unfriendly unaccommodating management I will never set foot in the Pekin Sezani's again!!!RUDE!!!!

We went there on a Saturday night. Had a reservation and it was busy. We were very pleasantly surprised with the variety of choices on the menu and the prices which were very reasonable. My husband had potato soup that he said was delicious, and a seafood dish which he enjoyed. I had the special which was lobster ravioli and it was wonderful. The only disappointment was the salad that was just a pile of lettuce with a piece of cucumber and wedge of tomato. The service was great and the atmosphere is old fashioned lovely - great for a celebration. We will look forward to going back there soon.

This is the second time my wife and I have been here. Both times the service has been excellent. My wife had the filet Mignon and I had the Alfredo pasta and we were both very happy with our meals.

Central Illinois will never have the reputation for great Italian restaurants. However, Sazani's is the exception. The dining room is lit for atmosphere, there are linen table cloths, but the atmosphere remains casual. The menu is a treat and the service is attentive and polite. Best of all, the entrees are very reasonably priced with most under $10. I recommend stopping at either of their locations.

My first experience with this place. It was an office Christmas party, so there were a few different dishes served buffet style. The restaurant itself seems nice enough, though I would say it's more aimed toward the older crowd. The waiters in our room seemed kinda flustered and forgot some drink orders, but all I had was water so it didn't directly affect me. The food was okay. We had prime rib, eggplant parm, spaghetti, salad, potato skins, bruschetta and fried chicken. The bruschetta was hard and dry, as were the potato skins. The prime rib was actually the best thing I ate (though not worth the price one would have to pay for it). The eggplant parm and spaghetti were okay, but nothing to rave about. I didn't eat any of the fried chicken, but everyone said it was pretty good. All I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't paying for it, because it wasn't worth the price. I probably wouldn't return. It just was not impressive.

I wanted to not like this place. I grew up with it as the Chateaux, and never thought much about it as a place to eat. Walking in, there was no one at the desk. My party was already present so I joined them. When I ordered a Diet Pepsi the waiter was unsure if they were out or not... Really? I mean, I realize I am not the most sophisticated diner but that's a fairly standard drink. The waiter had to be prompted to ask about what was in a dish, as in "could you go check and see what's in that?" since he didn't know. The food took a reasonable amount of time to come to the table but sadly mine was lukewarm. It was utterly flavorful and well cooked. Fix the service and I become a regular.

Not the best food, seems very much frozen to prepared, have not been to sister restaurant in Peoria, but hear it is better, too bad it's not better food, since it's close by.

We ate here with our 3 kids Saturday. We had reservations at 6:15 & were seated right away. (Definitely get reservations.) There were a few other families & groups with kids. Lots of couples on dates too. The food was good! I had chicken with mushrooms & cherry peppers. Good flavor. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was good too. All of the kids dishes were good. I had a bite of the kids burger and it was really yummy. I know that they were busy, but our food took an hour. No joke. The kids kept it together with lots of breadsticks. Our waitress brought us 2 free desserts because of the wait. We walked out the door at 8. I didn't think the wait was too bad. Lots of funny conversation with the family. It didn't hurt that the waitress filled my glass of wine up to the tippy top either! Will we go back? Yes! The prices are good. The food is good & it's hard to find independent restaurants like that around here. I'd come earlier or on a week night.

Cheers to you, Sazanis. Thank you for bringing dimly lit fine dining at a low price to the North Pekin area. I had no idea I needed you. The fluffy couches in the waiting area are a nice touch especially since the evening we were there, so was everyone else who lived in Tazewell County. We called about an hour before and got a reservation for two. After waiting about 30 minutes past reservation time due to a slight mix up (they forgot our reservation), we were comfortably seated in a corner booth. It was the kind of booth that could only have been made with a person and a half in mind and would be completely awkward for a first date but was perfect for my significant other and I because we both thrive on awkward. Halfway through the six page menu of entrees, I spotted the Chef's Special. Sold. No, excited. Chef's Special is American for the French Word chefs-d'oeurve, which means "a masterpiece." So basically I took it to mean, in text friendly language of our day: THIS IS GOING TO BE BAE. Bread: Great. Olive oil and parmesan cheese prepared by our friendly, overly eager: Even better. What a fabulous start. Calamari: Bland. The dipping sauce is not worth using words on, and this is from a girl whose love language is sauce. Ribs: Not memorable. I actually had to think really hard for a few minutes when trying to remember what the beef portion of our meal actually was. Stuffed Shrimp: We actually found this same item for sale in the frozen food section of GFS. We never would've pulled out our iPhones to look this up if it wasn't for the flat bottom shape they were served to us in, a tell tale sign they were baked on a pan. So Sazanis, I really want to make this work. I'm going to give you a second chance. Some of my favorite establishments are the kind of places where you only order one thing and the rest of the menu is filler. It's possible I just have no idea what your one thing is. And I've heard from other patrons whose tastebuds I trust you have a delicious salads and sandwiches on your lunch menu for mere pennies. But I feel a little dupped by the 'masterpiece' meal you served me and I'm just curious about how we are going to make this right.

Redecorated, reopened favorite local restaurant. This is the owners second location. Nice menu selections, reasonably priced, good service. Need reservations on weekend. Sunday brunch. Well go back. Prime rib was generous but needed seasoning. Need to chill salad plates and it would be a top rating.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
